Don't worry, it is normal.

I also had mine back when my baby was only about three, four months old. (I consider us 'the unlucky ones', as some of the mothers can enjoy a much longer 'vacation', haha. )

I am a mother of an apparently underweight girl.
Fed on the whole variety of food, she eats a lot and still loves to enjoy the breastfeeding time, although it is just a tiny proportion of her daily nutrition intake. ;-)

The best gift a mother can give her babies, in addition to unconditional love, is breast milk!

The return of your periods may also depend on the level of the hormone progesterone in your body, so there isn't really any normal time for your periods to start again. Some breastfeeding mums get their periods back as early as 11 or 12 weeks after giving birth. For others, it may be well over a year before their periods return.
